Student reads his halloween story
This reluctant reader practiced this story he wrote for his ELA teacher, reading his own words in a slideshow he made. He enjoyed reading outloud for a change.

Pondering using tools
Well, I've spent an hour trying to get a PowerPoint a student and I made this week as a way to work on his reading fluency. The key is hearing him read and that part is not working. Now Slideshare is temporarily not coming up. I think all these new digital tools are cool - but, this learning curve is hard to see around. Trying to use tools in school is frustrating because access to computers is limited and trying to get to things that aren't blocked or having the updated version of whatever player is often not a possibility.

A new listener
Sometimes, who's listening makes a world of difference. One of my students read to his dog this week, his confidence level and enthusiasm was noticably higher!

The Lost Hero
The newest book by Rick Riordan was highly recommended to me the other day. I hope to read it soon. Does it live up to the Percy Jackson excitement?
